Mark Weber's grandparents and parents listened to the old crooners, on records (remember those?), while he was growing up in Buffalo in the 1980s. Even though Mark enjoyed music from the 1960s to the 1980s, he also appreciated songs from way back, when artists like Vaughn Monroe, Peggy Lee, Louis Prima and Dean Martin topped the charts. Of course everyone knows Frank Sinatra, the most popular crooner of all time, but it's Nat King Cole, and his daughter Natalie, and her 1991 "Unforgettable...With Love" release, that really captured Mark's attention and got him loving tunes from a bygone, beautiful era. |

What is it about those songs of yesteryear that made them so appealing? Perhaps it's because they were so well-written? Or because you could actually understand every word the singer delivered? Maybe it was because there were so many gentle, heartfelt songs about love that seemed to be written just so you could hold that special someone close and dance the night away? |

In the guestbook, please share memories about growing up way back when. Share about your parents or grandparents, the songs and artists they listened to and loved, and what it was like in the "good old days." It will be so nice to read about your memories, and surely others will nod their heads and say, "I can relate!" |
